Outlook Reliance to maintain export volumes of diesel, petrol at present levels Our Bureau
New Delhi , May 10 RELIANCE Industries Ltd is exporting 4 lakh tonnes of diesel and 3 lakh tonnes of petrol per month. According to a senior company official, "our monthly exports of diesel and gasoline have remained unchanged over the past several months." Without divulging further details, he indicated that the current level of exports would continue in the short term. The company's aviation turbine fuel exports in the current financial year may also remain at the same level as the previous fiscal year at 1.5 million tonnes. About the 33-million-tonne a year Jamnagar refinery in western Gujarat, he said it would operate at full capacity by September-October once the hydrogen unit is repaired. The refinery is currently running at 97 per cent capacity. "We are going to go flat out, because the refining margins are good and there's substantial international demand," he said. On the domestic sales front, the official said that the company was selling close to 2 lakh tonnes of diesel and petrol per month from its retail pumps. Reliance has commissioned 380 petrol pumps across the country till date which are selling 1.5 lakh tonnes of diesel and 45,000 tonnes of petrol a month. About sales to the state-run oil marketing companies, the official said in the current fiscal, the company had sold 3 lakh tonnes of diesel and 2 lakh tonnes of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG). "Our volumes are growing. We are pushing products into the domestic market," he said. Remaining non-committal on the company's stand on the proposal of equal sharing of subsidy burden by the private and public sector oil companies, the official only said various formulas were being worked out by the companies and the Government and that discussions were on.
