Regulatory Bodies & Rulings Industry & Economy - Radio/TV I&B Ministry bans four channels for airing adult content Our Bureau
New Delhi , May 10 THE Information and Broadcasting (I&B) Ministry has banned four channels BlueKiss, BlueKiss Express, BlueKiss Promo and TBL-XXX for airing objectionable programmes through cable and direct-to-home (DTH) networks across the country. In an official statement, the Government said that some cable operators in the country, through their cable television networks, were transmitting/re-transmitting these satellite channels which were reportedly telecasting programmes that are against good taste or decency and likely to adversely affect public morality. An order prohibiting transmission/re-transmission of above television channels has been issued to the India Broadcasting Foundation (IBF) and all cable operators and multi-system operators (MSOs). This order has also been sent to all the Chief Secretaries, Director-Generals of Police of all States and Union Territories and also to District Magistrates of all Districts of all States and Union Territories, who are authorised officers to implement this decision as per the Cable Television Networks (Regulation) Act, 1995.
