Jindal Steel Q4 net rises 26 pc

JINDAL Steel & Power Ltd on Thursday reported a 26 per cent growth in net profit for the fourth quarter ended March 31, 2005 at Rs 146.70 crore on 45 per cent higher net sales of Rs 628.62 crore.

For the 12 months ended March 31, 2005, the company reported a 68.8 per cent growth in net profit at Rs 515.70 crore on 78.6 per cent higher net sales of Rs 2,253.60 crore.

The company has also declared growth in production of all its major products; sponge iron at 20 per cent, steel products at 23 per cent, ferro chrome at 53 per cent and power (in million kWh) at 61 per cent during the year under review. Besides, the company has also embarked on an expansion drive, completing several projects before schedule. The new capacities would be sponge iron (0.65 million tpa to 1.37 million tpa), power (205 to 265 MW), steel melting shop (0.4 million tpa to 1.15 million tpa) and coal washery (2.5 million tpa to 6 million tpa).
