Hyderabad , May 13

THE Andhra Pradesh Government is working on a new design for roads in delta areas and other regions with good irrigation facilities.

The life of roads in these areas are found to be shorter, according to Mr Jakkampudi Ram Mohan Rao, Minister for Roads and Buildings.

Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, he said the new design was being tested in laboratories. "These roads would cost a bit more but last longer," he said.

These roads were likely to come up in districts like East and West Godavari, Krishna and Nellore.

He said the Government would come up with a Road Policy soon. "The Cabinet will discuss the policy in its next meeting on May 19," he said.
