The Hindu Business Line : Amara Raja PitStop in Secunderabad

CONTINUING its retail expansion spree in Andhra Pradesh, the automotive battery major Amara Raja Batteries Ltd (ARBL), manufacturer of Amaron range of batteries, has announced the launch of Amaron PitStop, an exclusive automotive battery outlet at Secunderabad on Thursday.

This is its 62nd PitStop in the country. The company has PitStops in Hyderabad, Vizag, Kakinada, Vijayawada, Nellore, Karimnagar and Warangal.

Addressing the media, Mr G. Indeevar, ARBL Head, Aftermarket (Automotive), said the PitStop is a retail centre where premium, zero-maintenance Amaron range of batteries could be bought in a world-class ambiance.

The new Amaron PitStop at Secunderabad would stock batteries for passenger cars, trucks and tractors. As a value-added service the company also offers anytime, anywhere services in the city for any stalled car through its help line number.

Keeping up with the environmental norms, the Amaron PitStop at Secunderabad would also function as a collection centre for used batteries.

According to Mr Indeevar, the collection of used batteries has been a critical step in controlling backyard smelting by scrap merchants.

Through the Amaron PitStop, there would be a system whereby used batteries would go through the right channel and would be recycled in a safe manner, he said. On the business opportunities in the State, Mr Indeevar said, "Andhra Pradesh is an important centre for automotive batteries as the passenger car, trucking and tractor segments are booming. With the pleasant ambience, the customer service that we offer at the PitStops, we are confident that our city outlet will cater to the growing requirements of battery sales and service in this market."

According to him, the Alternator Regulator Battery Starter (ARBS) Diagnostic Centre at the Amaron PitStop was equipped with futuristic diagnostic equipment that uses microprocessor intelligence to test the battery and the vehicle electricals' health.
