Designers plea on building tax

Our Bureau

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Kerala Building Designers Organisation has demanded of the State Government to allow people to assess, by themselves, the building tax payable.

Mr Kaudiar Harikumar, President, and Mr Mahesh K. Pillai, Secretary, of the organisation recalled here that the State Government had made a proposal to this effect sometime ago. But, the officials had chosen to shoot it down.

Mr Harikumar and Mr Pillai urged the State Government that the proposal be granted fresh consideration. They also expressed themselves in favour of introduction of a slab system of tax based on factors such as location, accessibility to main roads or byroads, age of the building and the nature of build - concrete, tiled or thatched.
