New Projects Pure Petrochem plans facility in Chennai Sankar Radhakrishnan
Thiruvananthapuram , May 16 PURE Petrochem India Pvt Ltd, makers of the Action brand of speciality greases and lubricating oils, plans to start a manufacturing unit in Chennai. The Thiruvananthapuram-based company, which has two manufacturing units here, plans to manufacture speciality greases at its Chennai plant, said Mr K.R. Padmakumar, Chief Executive, Pure Petrochem India Pvt Ltd. Land for the new facility, expected to involve an investment of approximately Rs 2 crore, has already been bought, he added. The Chennai plant is expected to help the company increase sales of its products in Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka. The company is also preparing to expand its manufacturing facility at the Kinfra Small Industries Park on the outskirts of Thiruvananthapuram. This unit, which started operations in February, was set up with an investment of Rs 2.97 crore and produces both speciality greases and lubricating oils, Mr Padmakumar said. Once the expansion of this unit is complete, the company intends to look at exporting its products, he added. The company recently introduced a multipurpose grease under its Action brand. Called `Action Ext Life', it is a lithium-based grease, he said. According to Mr Padmakumar, the company's policy of giving its distributors and key employees a stake in the business is paying off. This policy is one of the reasons for the steady growth in the level of acceptance of the company's products, he added.
