HEWLETT-Packard India Sales Pvt Ltd on Tuesday unveiled plans to facilitate the growth of the domestic market for inkjet printers.

The focussed strategy is aimed at expanding the photo printing market and sustaining growth in the single function category, according to Mr Rajiv Rao, Market Development Manager, Consumer Peripherals, Hewlett-Packard India. Addressing a news conference held here on Tuesday to announce the launch of three new inkjet printer variants, Mr Rao said the company is a market leader in the inkjet printing space and has recorded impressive growth in sales of single-function and multi-function printers in the last quarter of the calendar year 2004.

HP has 83 per cent market share in the all-in-one printer space and 59 per cent in the inkjet printer space.

According to him, the three new products have been designed keeping in mind the consumer behaviour and environmental conditions of emerging markets such as India.

In the days ahead, products would be tested here and then marketed in countries with more-or-less similar economies and environments.
