Storage EMC top vendor in external storage market Our Bureau
Bangalore , May 17 STORAGE solutions vendor EMC Corporation has posted strong growth and increased its market share to emerge as the top vendor for external storage in India in 2004, according to IDC's Disk Storage Tracker 2004. The report said EMC's share in the external disk storage market increased from 6.7 per cent in 2003 to 24.5 per cent in 2004 in revenue terms. On a worldwide basis, in 2004 EMC was the top vendor in external disk storage systems revenue with 21.1 per cent share, growing revenues approximately four times faster than the total market, said a company press release. In the process EMC recaptured the top spot for the full year from Hewlett-Packard, which became the revenue leader in 2002 when it acquired Compaq. The IDC report said EMC was the fastest growing storage vendor in India in 2004, registering a revenue growth 11 times faster than the total market.
