NDDB to invest Rs 50 cr in AP

Our Bureau

Hyderabad , May 18

NATIONAL Dairy Development Board (NDDB) would invest Rs 50 crore in Andhra Pradesh to help strengthen milk producers.

It would also support the Andhra Pradesh Dairy Development Co-operative (APDDCF) in brand building.

NDDB proposals include developing new producer institutions in the districts of Chittoor, Kadapa, East and West Godavari. These were okayed by the State, according to the Minister for Animal Husbandry, Mr G. Surya Rao.

Accordingly, NDDB would invest funds in these districts to strengthen field operations and producer institution building. Through this process the milk producers (farmers) would be able to get almost Rs 2 more per litre of milk.

The Chief Minister, Dr Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, had convened a meeting in the context of the agreement between the State Government and the NDDB for support of milk producers here today.

At the meeting it was also agreed that an economically viable plan for the APDDCF for development, including a modern hi-tech plant would be provided by the NDDB, an official release said.
