French Embassy opens visa application centres

IN an effort to simplify visa application process, the French Embassy has opened visa application centres at Mumbai, New Delhi, and Chennai, where applicants can submit their documents after taking an appointment for the same.

Schengen Visa applicants residing in the country can now take appointments, for submitting their applications, by contacting call centres in Mumbai at 022-56314000, in Delhi at 011-5113111, and in Chennai at 044-52638000.

According to an official statement, appointments can also be taken on the Net by logging on to www.vfs-france.co.in. The appointment system ensures that applicants do not have to wait long to submit their applications. The centres will be open from 8 a.m to 4.00 p.m. Monday to Friday.

The processed passports could be couriered to applicants at their addresses, or alternatively, be picked up from the application centres.

According to the release, applicants could also track the status of their application by logging on to www.vfs-france.co.in or by messaging VISA FRpassport number{gt} to 7333 on their mobile phones.

The statement quoting the French Ambassador, Mr Dominique Girard, said visa applicants would be satisfied with the improvements deriving from the new application process.

The French Embassy has commissioned VFS (India) Pvt Ltd to provide the new application centres across the country. VFS is an outsourcing partner to diplomatic and consular missions in India, Singapore, South Africa, Bangladesh, the UAE and GCC region, among many others.
