HYDERABAD: The State Forests and Environment Minister, Mr S. Vijayarama Raju, has inaugurated the Mahavir Nischalvan Eco-tourism Centre at Mahavir Harina Vanastali National Park.

Speaking at the inaugural function, the Minister said that the eco-tourism centre at the park would provide good facilities to the visitors at a very nominal cost.

Andhra Pradesh Forest Development Corporation (APFDC) has constructed five air-conditioned cottages at the centre at a cost of Rs 55 lakh.

Mr Raju said that the Government was working towards increasing the forest cover area from 23 per cent to 33 per cent. The Minister called upon the people to participate in pollution control programmes and plant saplings. He said that 450 black bucks, 165 peacocks, and other flora and fauna were surviving at the Vanastali park.
