Hyderabad , May 19

THE Chief Minister, Dr Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, has proposed Rayachoti and Madanapalli in Kadapa and Chittoor districts for the proposed survey by DFID, the UK-based aid agency.

The DFID will prepare a report on providing 24/7 drinking water supply in two towns which have acute water shortage. Under the scheme, the DFID would meet the required funds either from IMF or the World Bank. The scheme is being implemented in four towns only in the country, as per a decision of the Centre.

The Chief Minister, who held a detailed review of projects and activities in the Kadapa district with officials of various departments, directed them to expedite the construction of the Rs 120-crore Rajiv Institute of Medical Sciences.

On the housing scheme in Pulivendula and Kadapa, he expressed unhappiness over the slow progress.

He wanted the officials to complete the 6,000 houses proposed under the Satellite Township in Kadapa and under model villages in Pulivendula by August-end, according to an official release.
