Tea Fair general demand at Kochi tea sale Our Bureau
Kochi , May 22 A FAIR general demand persisted for almost all varieties of tea at the Kochi tea auction. Of the quantity of 13,70,000 kg on offer in the dust category, best CTC's were easier by Rs 1-2 and others were barely easier by Rs 2-5. Highgrown orthodox remained steady, while medium orthodox was lower. As per the details made available with Forbes, Ewart & Figgis (Pvt) Ltd, the best CTCs commanded prices between Rs 46-60, medium CTCs realised Rs 42-45 and below medium were quoted Rs 27-32. Highgrown BOPD fetched prices between Rs 94-120, while medium BOPD realised Rs 35-37. Secondaries were quoted Rs 30-32. The leaf sale also witnessed a fair general demand and the quantity on offer was 6,70,000 kg. Orthodox Highgrown best brokens and whole leaf grades were steady to sometimes dearer. Others were easier. CTC's were also easier by Rs 1-2. Exporters were selective. The best Nilgiri varieties commanded prices between Rs 51-78, medium orthodox realised Rs 42-55. The best CTC leaf fetched prices between Rs 45-47, while medium CTC leaf realised Rs 38-42. In the leaf category, Havukal BOPF fetched the best prices of Rs 116 followed by Kodanaad Cl.BOPF by Rs 101. In the dust varieties, Kodanaad Cl.BOPD realised the best prices of Rs 120 followed by Parkside Cl.BOPD by Rs 94.
