Politics Money & Banking - Pension Plans Left to oppose pension Bill Our Bureau
Thiruvananthapuram , May 22 THE Left parties will oppose the Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority Bill in Parliament, said Mr Chittabrata Majumdar, General Secretary of the Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU). Addressing a press conference in the city today, he said the Left parties have decided to oppose the Bill as it contains several anti-labour provisions. It will undermine the structure of pensions in the country and result in a situation in which the Government avoids its responsibility to protect the working class, he added. The CITU is ready to join hands with anyone, including the Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh, to protect the rights of workers, he said.
