Bangalore , May 22

PROGEON, the business process outsourcing (BPO) subsidiary of software major Infosys Technologies, has recently bagged a major deal from global IT distributor Ingram Micro.

Sources said the $10-million deal is spread over a period of three years.

As part of the deal, Progeon will handle a range of administrative functions including finance, technical support services and inside sales for Ingram Micro.

Over the next few months, officials of Ingram Micro are expected to conduct knowledge sharing and training sessions with the teams at Progeon.

It could not be ascertained as to how many people Progeon would deploy on the Ingram account for executing the deal. Ingram's deal with Progeon was part of its overall outsourcing strategy to cut costs and streamline operations.

Sources said the deal was of great significance for Progeon and said the company had a healthy order pipeline.

Progeon, which has a client base of some 20 firms, offers BPO services in several industry verticals including telecom, banking and insurance.

Progeon clocked a net profit of Rs 30.06 crore on revenues of Rs 191 crore in the last financial year.

The BPO subsidiary of Infosys is expected to generate revenues of $80-81 million in the current financial year.

Progeon, which had close to 4,000 employees as on March 31, 2004, is expected to add another 3,000 people in the current financial year.
