THE Indian School of Business (ISB) has increased the intake of students for the Class of 2006 by 28 per cent to 349, up from 273 last year.

It plans to continue to ramp up its student strength every year till it reaches its full capacity of 550.

ISB started operations in 2002 with 126 students, followed it with 169 in 2003, 219 in 2004 and 273 in 2005.

Professor M. Rammohan Rao, Dean of ISB, in a statement said, "We will increase class strength gradually as we are committed to admitting students of high calibre. There is a growing need in Asia and India for high quality professionals. We aspire to be one of the top B-schools in the region, whose students will lead businesses in the future."

ISB has made extra efforts to attract students from non-metro cities in the country. Students come from as far as Assam in the East to Goa in the West, Solan in the North to Kozipally in the South.

The average work experience is five years in the Class of 2006, while the highest is 20 years. Seventy one students out of the 349 students (20 per cent) come with international work experience.
