IT corridor widening

Bijoy Ghosh

Work on six-laning of the IT corridor has begun at the Madhya Kailash junction in Chennai. The Government has announced plans to develop the road according to international standards through a special purpose vehicle. The Tamil Nadu Road Development Company, an equal joint venture between the Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation and IL&FS, has been entrusted with the task of widening the road from the Madhya Kailash junction to Siruseri about 20 km south, on the Old Mahabalipuram Road. Earlier, encroachments and unauthorised structures near Siruseri were demolished to widen the road.
