Rubber eases on rumours of imports

PHYSICAL rubber prices recorded heavy losses as rumours on fresh rubber imports by major manufactures hit the market circles on Tuesday.

According to sources, it was difficult to find out buyers even at lower levels and traders appeared to be panic in an effort to sell at least a part of their stock. Major grades lost amidst better reports from the international markets.

Sheet rubber RSS 4 declined to Rs 63.75 a kg from Rs 64.50 and to Rs 64.25 respectively at Kottayam and Kochi on Monday. NMCE futures weakened further with moderate volumes. The June contract was quoted at Rs 63.50 (Rs 63.84), July contract at Rs 63.50 (Rs 63.89), August contract at Rs 61.35 (Rs 61.67) and September contract at Rs 59.27 (Rs 59.31) per kg for RSS 4.

Prices a kg were as follows: RSS-4: Rs 63.75 (Rs 64.50); RSS-5: Rs 61.75 (Rs 62.50); ungraded: Rs 59.50 (Rs 60.50); ISNR 20: Rs 60.50 (Rs 60.75); and latex 60%: Rs 41 (Rs 42)
