Neepco net up at Rs 200 crore

THE State-owned North Eastern Electric Power Corporation (Neepco) has posted a net profit of Rs 200 crore in 2004-05 against a net of Rs 198 crore during the previous fiscal. It had registered a loss of Rs 408 crore in 2002-03.

Announcing the company's results, the Chairman and Managing Director, Mr S.C. Sharma, said the power generation company will invest Rs 554 crore this year for its on going projects.

He said that net generation of the corporation rose from 2,560 million units (MU) in 2000-01 to 5,196 MU in 2004-05. In terms of sales, the corporation achieved Rs 799 crore in 2004-05 from Rs 392 crore in 2000-01.

Similarly, its receipts increased to Rs 770 crore in 2004-05.
