Cooperative societies controlled by the CPI(M) that had procured paddy brought it out on Friday to be piled up at Gandhi Square in Kottayam to protest the State Government's failure to take it over. The situation is grim as the procured paddy is stored in 17 schools and the new school year is beginning next week.
