Helpline on Central Excise

MANGALORE: The Chief Commissioner of Central Excise, Mysore, Mr G.K. Pillai, inaugurated a helpline on Central Excise and Service Tax at Kanara Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) here recently. Claiming it as the first helpline in the country, he said such helplines would be opened in Bangalore, Belgaum and Mysore next month.

He said the Mangalore Commissionerate of Mysore Zone collected revenue of Rs 2,449 crore during 2004-05, an increase of 37 per cent over the previous fiscal.

The KCCI President, Mr A. Srinivasa Rao, presided over the function. Dr John Joseph, Commissioner of Central Excise, Mangalore, and Capt J.P. Menezes, Vice-President of KCCI, were present on the occasion.
