Science & Technology University of Hyderabad to get Rs 35 cr from DRDO Our Bureau
Hyderabad , May 29 THE University of Hyderabad (UoH) will get a Rs 35-crore grant-in-aid from the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) to set up an Advanced Centre for Research in High Energy Materials. The grants (for capital expenditure on equipment and buildings, maintenance and salaries) will be spread over the next five years. A Memorandum of Collaboration between the DRDO and the UoH was signed here recently. The Centre will bring together scientists of DRDO and UoH to undertake joint research on high-energy materials. High-energy materials have the capacity to produce large amounts of energy by consuming very little matter. The scientists from the UoH and various defence laboratories will develop processes involved in the synthesis of high energy materials, whose industrial application is growing.
