Stock Markets It's a pretty thing to see what money will do
Jogin sat worriedly watching the progress of monsoon on meteorological sites, and Sridevi bought herself an ice cream to celebrate the longest winning streak of the Sensex. Dakshinamoorthy was upset ever since FDA found out that Viagra can cause blindness. Khan stayed cool and summoned the gang for the weekly market chat. Join the fun! Kay: Hi, all of you! No room for complacency. We need to work harder! Sri : Hey, who elected you party president? Are you in cloud nine? LOL Dax: Because last week the market moved much more than expectation? Jog: Yes, even after the expiry of derivatives contract. :-) Kay: Market has recast its movement last week, I'd say. Dax: Were we not talking about a fall last week and frightening everyone? Jog: But there was this sudden buying from big sharks! Kay: Which forced short sellers to cover their positions and pushed up equities sharply. Sri : But guys, if you look at the discount of around 30 points for June Nifty Futures… Worrying keeps me immobilised! Kay: I understand your anxiety, Sri. Indication is not too positive. Jog: That's my view too. Doubtful if last week's trend will be maintained. "Doubt is an incentive to truth. Patient inquiry leads the way." Dax: Hosea Ballou quote. Some shelling, oops, selling should come. Kay: Yet, ITC and HLL may maintain the index. Sri : I was reading Tarot cards. Saw that Sensex and Nifty are likely to… Jog: Touch new high in June or July? "High aims form high characters." Kay: Tryon Edwards said so. Well, hold on to long positions. Sri : For Nifty 2142 is reachable without any big fuss, I'd say. Jog: Because Reliance, Tata Power, SBI and Hero Honda are all very strong. "When strong, be merciful," advises Chilon. Kay: If the upward trend further continues 2185, I think... Dax: This week, mid-cap and small cap stock may not do well. Jog: You give such disappointing news just like that! Kay: Be realistic, Jog. You can expect heavy selling to come in most of the stocks. "I always like to look on the optimistic side of life, but I am realistic enough to know that life is a complex matter," Walt Disney! Sri : Stay cool, I'd advise. And hold to good long-term play. Dax: If you see heavy selling in some of the counters… Jog: Such as SRF, Chemplast Sanmar, Micro Technologies? Dax: You're right, Jog. And let me complete…buy more of the stocks. Sri : Other long-term play include Sintex, Havells India, Rain Calcining. Jog: Anybody knows the Amforge story? Dax: Last week, it sold one of its units to Mahindra & Mahindra. Jog: Which means we can see some selling in Amforge. Dax: But market talks are that M&M is likely to buy one more auto components company. Will that be RK Forgings, as some say? Sri : I'd better buy RK Forgings for the next couple of weeks. To make money! "Send lawyers, guns and money," sings Warren Zevon! Kay: Did you watch how IDBI moved on Friday? It gained sharply. Sri : "Swollen in head, weak in legs, sharp in tongue but empty in belly," said Mao Tse-Tung. Jog: Mmm… actual merger with IDBI Bank is just round the corner. Dax: Buy the stock, good investment. Kay: ITC announced stock-split and bonus. A market mover. Sri : Is 7,000 in Sensex possible? I am so optimistic that I'd bet a double sundae! "Revolution is not a dinner party," is another of Mao. Jog: Don't mix snack with Sensex, Sri! Let me send you an octopus! Dax: L&T was down on Friday. One can buy the stock at dips. Kay: Pick BHEL. It was brought down to Rs 872 from Rs 930 levels. Jog: Heard that Blue Star and Rei Agro look pretty. Sri : "It is a pretty thing to see what money will do!" said Seneca. Dax: Ah, these delivery picks would fetch big returns, and I buy a new car! Kay: "If one dream should fall and break into a thousand pieces…" Sri : "… never be afraid to pick one of those pieces up and begin again," Flavia Weedn! Like this.... Jog: "Rashness belongs to youth; prudence to old age," cautions Cicero. Kay: "Prudence is but experience," assures Thomas Hobbes. Sri : "Luck can be assisted. It's not all chance with the wise," Gracian! ** Lee, with inputs from Vir, Mad and The. Send in your views to: Chat@TheHindu.co.in.
