THE State Government has promulgated an Ordinance fixing the entertainment tax rates that local self-government bodies can impose on amusement parks. The tax will be determined on the basis of the investment and the area it occupies.

Parks that are located on less than four hectares of land and have been built with an investment of less than Rs 10 crore will have to pay entertainment tax varying from Rs 7.5 lakh to Rs 10 lakh, says an official release.

Similarly, for amusement parks located on less than six hectares of land and built with an investment ranging from Rs 10 crore to Rs 20 crore, the tax will be between Rs 15 lakh and Rs 20 lakh.

For amusement parks with an area ranging from 6 to 10 hectares and built with an investment ranging from Rs 20 crore to Rs 50 crore, the tax will be between Rs 37.5 lakh and Rs 50 lakh.

The entertainment tax on parks located on more than 10 hectares of land and constructed with an investment exceeding Rs 50 crore will be between Rs 75 lakh and Rs 1 crore.
