With this expansion, the company would form a dedicated outbound and inbound supply chain in this region.

New Delhi , May 30

SAFEXPRESS on Monday opened three offices in the North-East. The opening of three new service locations will cut down the transit times between Delhi and the North-East from the current 10-15 days to approximately 8-10 days, claimed the company in a release.

Commenting on the opening, Mr Pawan Jain, Chairman and Managing Director, Safexpress Private Ltd, said, "The new facility underlines our commitment to this market and will go a long way in benefiting the business and trade community of the North-Eastern region."

With this expansion, the company would form a dedicated outbound and inbound supply chain in this region. Safexpress has an office in Guwahati, Assam and has over 40 offices in the eastern region.

"We anticipate an urgent need for express cargo services in the region especially to standardise supply chains in large plants," added Mr Jain.

This would in turn open up a vast market for the industrial units based in the region and for allied service providers. Safexpress will immediately start servicing the FMCG production out of Agartala and Guwahati. It will also undertake sourcing of handicrafts, cloth, FMCG and consumer products from Shillong and Jorhat, it added.

"The company recently inaugurated its offices in Agartala (Tripura), Shillong (Meghalaya) and Jorhat (Assam)," stated the release. Safexpress Web site offers tracking, scanned image of proof of delivery (ePOD) and a logistics planning tool, virtual cargo.

"Customers can also track consignments using SMS facility. The company has deployed more than 3000 ISO 9002 weather-proof containerised vehicles, which have a cargo carriage capacity of 2.4 million cubic feet and a payload of 12,000 tonnes, at any point in time.
