US co to set up bio-diesel plant

SOLARSA India Private Ltd (SIPL), a unit of Renewable Energy and Sustainable Technologies, US has proposed to set up a bio-diesel plant in India.
Mr Ram Chereddy, the Managing Director of SIPL met the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Dr Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, on Monday and expressed interest in starting a bio-diesel plant project in India with an annual capacity of 3,00,000 ton estimated to cost Rs 300 crore.
SIPL proposes to partners with M/s.IC Consultants based in Austria, a pioneer organisation in bio-diesel technologies and who implemented several large plants around the world. It is considering AP as high priority for locating the plant.
The first phase of the project would involve the jatropha curcas plantation in about 10,000 acres of wasteland, Mr Chereddy said, according to an official press release from the CM office today.
The CM assured to extend all support and cooperation from the State Government for establishing a bio-diesel plant in the State. He suggested that it should be set up in Nellore District since the company is scouting for a suitable port city for the plant.
Cultivation of jatropha will help farmers on a large scale in generating their income and also provides employment to farm workers and setting up of a bio-diesel plant will help the skilled and educated.
