Bajaj Auto sales up 52 pc in May

MUMBAI: Bajaj Auto Ltd (BAL) on Wednesday reported a 52 per cent rise in total sale of two & three-wheelers for May 2005 to 1,78,645 units from the previous corresponding 1,17,200 units.

According to an official statement, its two-wheeler sales were up 61 per cent to 1,62,753 units (1,01,022 units for the year-ago period) including a 76 per cent increase in motorcycle sales to 1,53,975 units (87,663 units).

Sale of three-wheelers however registered a 2 per cent dip to 15,892 units (16,178 units).

For April-May 2005, BAL's total two & three-wheeler sales grew by 44 per cent to 3,43,690 units (2,38,599 units). Two-wheeler sales moved up by 51 per cent to 3,10,345 units (2,06,269 units) including a 64 per cent gain in motorcycle sales to 2,91,833 units (1,78,195 units).

Sale of three-wheelers was up 3 per cent to 33,345 units (32,330 units).
