Karnataka: Guidance programmes for students seeking entry into professional courses

The Hindu Education Plus is organising `Pre-Counselling Guidance Programmes' for students seeking admission to professional courses in Karnataka. The guidance programmes will be held in Mangalore on June 3, Bangalore on June 6 and Hubli June 8.

The programme will provide an opportunity to students to interact with an eminent panel of speakers from the field of education. It will give students an insight into what courses to opt for, career prospects and admission procedures.

The Hindu is organising the guidance programme for the second year in Bangalore and Mangalore and for the first time in Hubli.

In Mangalore, the programme will be held at Town Hall. The panellists include the former Vice-Chancellor of Manipal Academy of Higher Education, Dr B.M. Hegde (medical courses), the Registrar of the National Institute of Technology Karnataka (NITK), Dr Aloysius Sequiera (technology courses), and the emeritus Professor of NITK, Dr M.N. Madhyastha. State Bank of India, Karnataka Bank, New Mangalore Port Trust and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd are the sponsors of the event in Mangalore.

In Bangalore, the Special Officer of the Common Entrance Test (CET) Cell, Mr M.N. Nayak, will provide information on the admission process for CET rank-holders. The other speakers in Bangalore include the Vice-Chancellor of the Visvesvaraya Technological University, Dr K. Balaveera Reddy, the Director of PES Group of Institutions, Prof Jawahar, the COMED-K Representative, Dr S. Kumar, and the Director of the Oxford Educational Institutions, Mr Ramesh Raju. The programme will commence at 10 a.m. at Chowdaiah Memorial Hall. Those interested in participating in the Bangalore programme should register on epkar@thehindu.co.in giving name, address and telephone number.

In Hubli, the session will be at the BVB Reddi College of Engineering auditorium.
