Havell's expanding network in South

Kochi , June 3

TO further consolidate its share in the market, Havell's India Ltd is expanding its distribution network in southern India, including Kerala, with an increased focus on smaller towns.

The company has set a sales target of Rs 400 crore from the southern States and Kerala would contribute to the extent of Rs 100 crore by 2006, said Mr Qimat Rai Gupta, Chairman and Managing Director, QRG Group of companies, of which Havell's India Ltd is the flagship company.

Last year, Havell's had achieved Rs 70 crore turnover from Kerala by garnering a 30-40 per cent share in the market in almost all of its products. With a 150-dealer strength in the State, he pointed out that the company has become the largest seller of compact fluorescent lamps with 75,000 pieces every month. It had also become the market leader in the sale of its energy saving fans.

The CMD, who was here to attend Tamil Nadu dealers' meet, told newspersons that the improved share in the Kerala market was only because of the high quality conscious of the customers in the State.

It had plans to increase the existing network to penetrate into deeper pockets in all the small towns, villages soon, he added.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Anil Gupta, Director, Havell's India, said that the company is looking at the international market in the next three years to be a major brand in the world.

It had plans to open four new offices with two each in Far East Asia and in West Asia and North Africa region. With four international marketing hubs in London, Sri Lanka, Dhaka and Dubai, the company is targeting exports in a big way.
