Reliance slashes all product prices except LAB

Mumbai , June 3

RELIANCE Industries Ltd has for the second month in succession slashed product prices. The reduction in prices spanned all its product categories - polyester, polymers and fibre intermediates - but retained the same price for linear alkyl benzene (LAB).

The price reduction was sharpest for mono-ethylene glycol (MEG), down 23.7 per cent by Rs 11.50 a kg at Rs 37.10. The other fibre intermediate, purified terephthalic acid (PTA) was down by Rs 4.80 (11 per cent) to Rs 37.50.

Polyester prices were down by Rs 6 and Rs 7 a kg for partially oriented yarn (POY) and polyester staple fibre (PSF) respectively. While POY was down by 8.2 per cent to Rs 67 a kg, PSF was down by 10.4 per cent at Rs 60.50.

Similarly, polymer prices were down by between 9.2 per cent and 13.6 per cent. Polyethylene (PE) was down Rs 5 (9.2 per cent) to Rs 49.50; poly vinyl chloride (PVC) by Rs 6 (13.6 per cent) at Rs 38 and polypropylene (PP) by Rs 7 (12.2 per cent) to Rs 50.40.

The price of LAB, the only product to left unchanged in the price meltdown, remained steady at Rs 64.30.
