Microland opens centre for UK co

MICROLAND Ltd has inaugurated a dedicated centre for providing remote IT infrastructure management services (IMS) to Serco Solutions, UK, a division of Serco Group Plc.

The facility, with a 100 people on board, is expected to reach its capacity of 250 people by the end of the year, according to Mr Pradeep Kar, CMD.

This is Microland's fourth operations management centre and the company will provide the US service company 24/7 IT infrastructure monitoring and management services and support technologies including Microsoft, Unix, Novell, Citrix, Exchange and Domino servers, Oracle and SQL databases, network and security devices among others.

The Nasscom President, Mr Kiran Karnik, who inaugurated the centre, said UK being the second-largest IMS market, the deal was significant.

Mr Kar said Microland, which has been in the IMS space for over five years now, would leverage its expertise as well as its six-sigma and BS 15000 expertise to provide IMS service to Serco and its customers.

Infrastructure management services, encompassing services that relate to monitoring, managing and enhancing performance of a client's IT infrastructure backbone, has a global market of between $86 billion (Deutsche Bank report) and $150 billion (Gartner), according to Microland which offers monitoring services, helpdesk services, server management, data centre, storage, email, network, asset management, desk-side support, IT security services, vendor and application management.
