Chennai , June 4

EXPORT Import Bank of India (Exim Bank) and DHAN Foundation have signed a one-year memorandum of cooperation to promote local crafts and herbal plants for the export market, through DHAN's eKalanjiam Thozhilagam Ltd (KTL) programme.

Development of Humane Action (DHAN) Foundation is a Madurai-based organisation that works towards poverty reduction with the help of professionals. Some of its initiatives are the Kalanjiam Community Banking Programme and information technology for the poor.

The KTL programme has been initiated to boost the income of the poor by promoting income-generating activities. It promotes products made of palm leaves, terracotta, batik, backyard products, vermicompost, seeds, hand-made paper, medical and aromatic products.

Exim Bank will promote DHAN's products in the overseas market by displaying them at its offices. The bank will help facilitate the export business by identifying potential suppliers/partners.
