Mixed trend in Kochi tea auction

A mixed trend persisted for almost all varieties of tea at the Kochi tea auction.

Though dust sale witnessed a fair general demand, it was comparatively low for leaf varieties.

Of the 14,59,000 kg on offer in the dust category, good liquoring CTCs were barely steady to irregularly easier around last levels. Other CTCs tended to ease with less demand. Orthodox was also lower.

The best CTC varieties commanded prices between Rs 46 and Rs 60, medium CTC realised Rs 40-45 and below medium were quoted at Rs 25-30. High-grown BOPD fetched prices between Rs 90 and Rs 112, while medium BOPD realised Rs 31-34.

The leaf sale witnessed only a fair general demand and the quantity on offer was 6,24,000 kg. Best Orthodox brokens and whole leaf grades were irregularly easier around last levels. Others were lower with many withdrawals. Good CTCs were barely steady and easier by about a rupee. Other CTC varieties were easier by Re1 to Rs 2. Exporters were selective and operated with less strength.

The best Nilgiri varieties commanded prices between Rs 50 and Rs 75, medium Orthodox realised Rs 38-52. The best CTC leaf fetched prices between Rs 44 and Rs 46 and medium CTC leaf were quoted at Rs 36-41.

In the dust category, Kodanaad Cl.BOPD realised the best price of Rs 112, followed by Parkside CL BOPD at Rs 91.

In the dust varieties, Havukal BOPF fetched the best price of Rs 118, followed by Chamraj OP at Rs92
