Mumbai , June 6 IN a bid to stay ahead of competition, Bank of Baroda will extend banking hours in select branches. The bank will be opening its first 24-hour branch in Mumbai this month and extending banking hours from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. in over 100 branches all over the country. Announcing this on Monday at the launch of the bank's new logo double "B" with a rising sun called " the Baroda Sun", Mr Anil Khandelwal, Chairman, said the bank has signed up Rahul Dravid to be its brand ambassador. The 24-hour branch, to be located at Bandra in the western suburb of Mumbai, will offer all types of banking service throughout day and night, said a bank official. The 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. branches will be introduced in phases from this month. ICICI Bank and State Bank of India are among the other banks that have introduced 12-hour banking service in branches. Mr Khandelwal said the "new corporate logo is much more than a cosmetic change. It is a signal that the bank recognises and is preparing itself for the new business paradigms in a globalised world." He said the agreement with Dravid would be for three years. "In many ways Dravid's personality reflects the bank's approach to business hard work, dedication and total commitment," he said. He however, did not disclose the fee paid to Dravid. The 97-year-old bank has over 2,700 branches in 20 countries. Dravid, who was present at the function, said Bank of Baroda has given him an opportunity to showcase the bank's qualities of ``being a reliable and consistent player over a period of time.
