COMPUTER Associates International Inc (CA), the US- based software services provider, is eyeing the e-governance, defence and banking and financial services market with its open source-based Ingres database management software.

The Consulting Director of CA India, Mr Rajendra P. Dhavale, said as licence costs go up for corporations, they are under increasing pressure to deliver. Therefore, they are looking to cheaper and yet reliable options. With Ingress, CA is eyeing this market.

`We are in parleys with several State Governments that are looking for various technologies for e-Governance projects. With Ingres, backed by cluster computing and open source software, we believe they would be better placed to handle this," Mr Dhavale said.
