Mumbai , June 8

A FOREIGN expatriate with wide global experience in telecom companies — and whose most recent assignment was with Vodafone — has been appointed as Chief Executive Officer of Tata Teleservices Ltd (TTSL).

Mr Darryl Green, TTSL's new CEO, was President & CEO with Vodafone KK, Japan, for three years.

"Mr Green will have full profit & loss responsibility for the company and will provide vision and leadership to successfully achieve the company's goals," a news release from TTSL said.

At Vodafone, Japan, Mr Green presided over an operation that was widely recognised for gaining first to-market position with exciting new services & pricing plans, increasing market share, growing EBITDA, and achieving positive cash flow. Mr Green also played a critical role in restructuring the company to increase efficiency by consolidating nine regional operating companies, the release added.

Prior to his stint with Vodafone, Mr Green was President & CEO of Global Crossing Japan KK, where he established the Asian operations.

He also played a key role in the IPO of Global Crossing, and its listing on the NYSE. Before this, he was for 11 years with AT&T.

Tata Teleservices has not had a CEO in months now, ever since its Managing Director Mr S. Ramakrishnan, resigned from his post in October last year.
