Public Sector Banks Money & Banking - People Five banks get new chiefs Our Bureau
Mr T.S. Narayanasami, Indian Overseas Bank
New Delhi , June 9 THE Government today appointed new chiefs for Indian Overseas Bank (IOB), Andhra Bank, Canara Bank, Indian Bank and Bank of India. Mr T.S. Narayanasami, who was the CMD of Andhra Bank, has moved to IOB as its new Chief Executive. IOB was headless after Mr S.C. Gupta was recently appointed CMD of Punjab National Bank. Mr Narayanasami will hold office till May 31, 2009. Mr K. Ramakrishnan will take up the top slot in Andhra Bank.
Mr M.B.N. Rao, Canara Bank
Mr Ramakrishnan, who was Executive Director, Bank of Baroda, will be the CMD of Andhra Bank till July 31, 2008. Mr M.B.N. Rao, Chairman and Managing Director, Indian Bank, is the new chief of Canara Bank. Mr Rao will hold office till June 30, 2008. The top slot at Canara Bank fell vacant when Mr V.P. Shetty was recently made CMD of IDBI Bank Ltd.
Mr. K.C. Chakrabarty, Indian Bank
Mr K.C. Chakrabarty, who was earlier the Executive Director of Punjab National Bank, has taken over as the CMD of Indian Bank. The notification appointing Mr Chakrabarty says he will remain in office for five year or till further orders. Mr K. Balachandran, Executive Director, Bank of India, has been elevated as the CMD of the bank. He will hold office till April 30, 2007. Bank of India has remained headless since Mr M. Venugopalan retired on April 30.
