Rubber prices stay unchanged

Our Correspondent

Kottayam , June 9

RUBBER prices continued to stagnate in the absence of fresh buying interest. The covering groups and purchase agents were keeping a low profile absorbing the scattered selling from traders.

RSS 4 closed unchanged at Rs 64 a kg both at Kottayam and Kochi on Thursday. Meanwhile, moderate showers reported from the plantations rescued the market from losing further ground due to buyer resistance and weak international signals.

The rubber futures turned weak except for September which was quoted marginally better at Rs 60.00 (59.80) a kg. The June contract was quoted at Rs 63.50 (Rs 63.84), July contract at Rs 64.70 (Rs 64.82), August contract at Rs 62.48 (Rs 62.58) a kg for RSS 4. The July futures stopped the volume chart trading 140 lots till mid-session. The July futures for RSS 3 declined to 158.4 yen a kg from 159.1 yen at TOCOM. The grade was steady at Rs 63.56 a kg at Bangkok.

The spot rubber prices a kg were: RSS-4: Rs 64 (Rs 64); RSS-5 Rs 62 (Rs 62); ungraded: Rs 60 (Rs 60); ISNR 20: Rs 58.50 (Rs 58.50); and latex 60%: Rs 41 (Rs 41).
