CII stress on job creation

Our Bureau

New Delhi , June 11

THE Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) has said that there is need to create more employment and self-employment opportunities, especially among the economically backward families.

A strategy paper prepared by CII, states that education, skill development and a culture for entrepreneurship holds the key towards creating employment. In its endeavour at affirmative action, CII and its member companies are engaged in a programme for the economically disadvantaged in small towns and rural areas such as Shillong, Machilipatnam, Pravaranagar (rural Maharashtra) and Baramulla, as also in Srinagar and Delhi. The small-scale sector lacks the technological and managerial resources to be globally competitive.
