Announcements Shield Autoglass to open 77 outlets Our Bureau
Ahmedabad , June 11 SHIELD Autoglass Ltd, the company that offers car glass repair services under the `Windshield Experts' brand, is planning to expand its reach by opening 77 new outlets in the next three years. With the proposed expansion, the company's total number of outlets will rise to over 100 across 19 cities in the country. Currently, the number of Windshield Experts outlets stands at 27, the Chief Operations Officer of Shield Autoglass, Mr Ratish Ramanujam, said here on Friday. In the current year, the Delhi-based company plans to open outlets in in Uttar Pradesh, Kerala and Tamil Nadu. "By the end of the year, we will cover 60 per cent of the total car population in India," Mr Ramanujam told reporters at the launch of the company's new outlet at Vadodara. "Minor chips in the windscreen glass can be repaired through a special cleaning process and filling with a resin that has optical properties similar to glass. If repairs are not carried out quickly, the cracks can spread and replacement is the only option," Mr Ramanujam said. Shield Autoglass is trying to increase awareness about its technology and is also lobbying for an amendment to the Motor Vehicles Act to make laminated windscreens mandatory even in the replacement market. "Globally, windscreen repair is an established practice. We are the only company offering the facility in India and our focus now is to build awareness," Mr Ramanujam said.
