New Delhi , June 11

INDIA and China have finalised the modalities to establish efficient communication channels for meaningful and timely exchange of information and intelligence on customs issues.

At the first meeting of the Indian and Chinese delegation to discuss the modalities for the operationalisation of the customs co-operation agreement, both sides exchanged views on prevention, detection and investigation of customs offences.

While the Chinese delegation was headed by Mr Ye Jian, Vice-Minister, General Administration of China Customs, the Indian delegation was led by the Chairman of the Central Board of Excise and Customs, Mr A.K. Singh.

With this pact, it will now be easier for both sides to fight the menace of smuggling and customs commercial frauds .
