LIC Madurai division collects Rs 122 cr as first premium income

Madurai , June 14

THE Madurai Division of LIC collected Rs 122.22 crore as first premium income by selling over 2.35 lakh policies during 2004-05, said the Zonal Manager, Chennai, Mr G. Prabhakara.

The collections registered a growth of 68.24 per cent.

The division occupied the 18th position in first premium income at the all-India level, he said addressing presspersons here.

The division, during the year, settled Rs 214.73 crore under maturity and death claims.

Out of the 99,927 claims, only six remain outstanding at the end of the year.

Under the Shiksha Sahayog Yojana scheme, scholarships worth Rs 41 lakh have been disbursed to 3,202, Mr Prabhakara said.

The scheme is exclusively for students from class IX to XII,
