Rubber Rubber prices up on lack of sellers Our Correspondent
Kottayam , June 14 SPOT rubber rates bounced back on Tuesday. After a steady opening, market turned firm as it was difficult to find quantum sellers at lower levels. Meanwhile, the proposed strike of the workers in the plantation sector could not be averted as the conciliation talks called by the Minister of Labour at Thiruvananthapuram failed to bring out any result. Sheet rubber improved to Rs 62.50 and Rs 62.75 respectively at Kottayam and Kochi. Rubber futures continued to remain sluggish excepting June, which was quoted at Rs 61.90 (Rs 61.40) on short covering. The July contract was traded at Rs 63.70 (Rs 63.78), August at Rs 62.07 (Rs 62.18) and September at Rs 59.35 (Rs 59.58) per kg for RSS 4. The volumes recorded were 22 lots (June), 237 lots (July), 31 lots (August) and 8 lots (September) till mid-session. At Bangkok RSS 3 improved further to Rs 64.20 from Rs 63.88 a kg. The prices per kg were as follows: RSS-4: Rs 62.50 (Rs 62.25) RSS-5: Rs 60.50 (Rs 60), ungraded: Rs 58.50 (58.00), ISNR 20: Rs 58.00 (Rs 57.50) and latex 60 per cent: Rs 40.50 (Rs 40.50)
