Corporate social responsibility

This is with reference to the advertiser's feature on corporate social responsibility Doing Good Has Its Rewards (Business Line, June 13), which brought into focus the various facets of "CSR". It is just not dispensing part of the company's profit for a social cause through a society or through a trust. It is not undertaken with the motive to garner publicity for the organisation or as an image building exercise for its CEO, as often assumed.

The best way for corporates to discharge such a responsibility is to involve all employees in whatever social cause they undertake.

However, the best form of assuming corporate social responsibility is to pay regular taxes to the government.
