Software IBM opens Global Delivery Centre in Hyderabad Our Bureau

Hyderabad , June 14 IBM Global Services India on Tuesday announced the opening of its Global Delivery Centre in Hyderabad. This would help expand the company's ability to provide clients around the world with technology services and solutions in the area of application development and management. Work at the centre will focus on SAP, mainframe and Web technologies. The new facility is part of IBM's integrated global services delivery network of more than two dozen centres located around the world. The Managing Director, IBM India, Mr Shanker Annaswamy, said: "Our clients are looking beyond the immediate cost benefits of outsourcing application services to long-term business performance improvements. The expansion of IBM's global delivery operations in Hyderabad will meet growing client demand for efficient, high-quality delivery services." Inaugurating the centre located at Mindspace, Dr Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, said: "We are delighted to have an increased presence of IBM in Andhra Pradesh. This centre is a good example of how corporations can work in partnership with the Government to enrich the community at large. A company like IBM makes a lot of difference, being one of the majors. They are welcome to expand to Vizag." This centre will initially employ 1,000 people with capacity to grow in line with client demand, enabling IBM to scale delivery of its Application Management Services (AMS) according to market needs. AMS refers to offerings that address the full spectrum of a customers' application development and maintenance needs. This will be IBM's fifth Global Delivery centre in India following Kolkata, Gurgaon, Pune and Bangalore. IBM's Global Delivery Centres in India support clients across industries such as communications, financial services, industrials distribution and public sector.
