Rubber Delayed monsoon hits rubber prices Our Correspondent
Kottayam , June 15 DELAYED monsoon and the absence of major manufacturers hammered spot rubber prices on Wednesday. Covering groups and purchase agents were sidelined even amidst weak arrivals as the market failed to absorb the scattered selling from traders. All major grades lost moderately though the trading volumes were not impressive. RSS 4 declined to Rs 62 a kg from Rs 62.50 and Rs 62.75 at Kottayam and Kochi respectively. The NMCE futures weakened further quoting the July contract at Rs 62.90 (Rs 63.46) and August contract at Rs 61.54 (Rs 61.95) a kg for RSS 4. The June contact was slightly better at Rs 62.05 (Rs 61.92) on short covering but the far month September remained inactive throughout the session. . Spot rubber prices per kg were: RSS-4 Rs 62 (Rs 62.50); RSS-5 Rs 60 (Rs 60.50); ungraded Rs 58 (Rs 58.50); ISNR 20 Rs 57.50 (Rs 58); and latex 60% Rs 40 (Rs 40.50).
