TeleVital to raise $10 m for e-medicare expansion

Televital, an integrated telemedicine and e-health technology solutions company, promoted by Mr Kumar Malavalli and friends, will be raising $10 million in the next six months to expand the scope of technology and products for the healthcare industry.

The Silicon Valley-based company's Bangalore development centre will help bring out products and technology to tap the huge potential in the electronic healthcare information exchange infrastructure market.

Talking to reporters here on Wednesday, Mr Malavalli, Chairman of TeleVital, said that the company planned to set up marketing offices in Mumbai, Delhi and Chennai.The telemedicine market estimated in India at about $3.5 billion. Mr Malavalli said TeleVital hoped to implement 300 turnkey installations for providing telemedicine solutions to pubic-private health care organisations by the year-end.

It has already completed 180 installations in India (including Manipal Hospital, Bangalore) and abroad.

Mr Ravi Amble, CEO, another investor in the company, said, TeleVital, which works in close cooperation with the Indian Space Research Organisation and the Government, is discussing with medical hardware companies to make telemedicine affordable to the rural population.
