JAGSON Airlines plans to start a limited period helicopter service to the Amarnath caves from June 21.

Speaking to newspersons, the airline Chairman, Mr Jagdish P. Gupta, said that the airline would operate 44 flights a day from Srinagar and Baltal to the Amarnath caves.

"While we will operate two return flights a day from Srinagar, there will be 40 daily return flights from Baltal," Mr Gupta said. The airline is to use a Bell 407 helicopter in which up to five passengers can sit. The flights will remain operational till August 20.

The airline is also in talks for acquiring some 50-seater aircraft to start more regular flights between various domestic cities, the Chairman said.

"We hope to start these flights within the next four-to-five months. We are looking at 50-seater aircraft but cannot reveal the name of the aircraft manufacturer we are in talks with as the discussions are at a crucial stage," Mr Gupta added.
