Hyderabad , June 17

VNS Innovations has announced the launch of `Sweatex', a disposable underarm dress liner simultaneously in the domestic and US markets on Friday.

Addressing media here, the VNS Director and product inventor, Ms Lakshmi Papineni, said the product protects garments by absorbing underarm moisture and odours. The company has patented the product both in the US and India.

Stating that the product is being made available in India for the first time, she said it makes users feel fresh and confident all day by avoiding underarm stains and odours.

The product, made of hypoallergenic thin layers, sticks to the inside armpit part of the garment and absorbs excessive sweat. The liner would be invisible from outside but acts as a barrier between the body and the garment.

According to Ms Papineni, the product not only saves laundry and dry cleaning bills, but also makes expensive silk blouses and other dresses more durable.

Having test marketed the product with 70,000 sample pairs till date the company plans to make the product available through shops shortly. Stating that the company is currently manufacturing the product in collaboration with a Chinese company, Ms Lakshmi said eventually a manufacturing unit would be set up in India once the company reached comfortable sales turnover.

For the first year, it expects to sell three lakh pairs, accounting for around Rs 1.8 crore, she said.
